Ministry of Transportation opens registration for free motorbike homecoming by boat starting Thursday

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) opened registration for free motorbike homecoming by ship for the 2023 Eid period starting this Thursday.

The Director of Sea Traffic and Transportation of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Hendri Ginting, in his written statement on Thursday, stated that the registration and registration of the free motorbike homecoming will be carried out online via https://mudikgratis.dephub.

Registration opens on March 23-April 5 2023 with registration verification taking place on March 25-April 7 2023.

While direct registration will be carried out from 23 March 2023 to 16 April 2023 at the Nusantara Passenger Terminal, Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta and the Cipta Building on the ground floor of the Ministry of Transportation, Jakarta.

Hendri Ginting said that the homecoming flow will be carried out on April 15 and 17 2023 with the route from Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta to Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang.

Meanwhile, there are also two return flows with the Tanjung Emas-Tanjung Priok route on April 25 and 28 2023.

“The available quota is 2,500 passengers/trip and 1,250 motorcycles/trip so that the total quota for going home is 5,000 people and 2,500 motorbikes, while going back is 5,000 people and 2,500 motorbikes,” said Hendri.

The free homecoming program for motorbikes by ship is in the context of improving the smoothness of road transport traffic and reducing the potential for traffic accidents for road users, especially motorcycle users on the north coast (pantura) route.

Hendri said the free homecoming for motorcycles by ship was also a form of support for the Directorate General of Sea Transportation to introduce alternative modes of transportation for the 2023 Eid homecoming.

“In addition to reducing the level of density on the highway and reducing the number of traffic accidents on the road for motorcycle drivers, the free homecoming of motorbikes by ship is a form of introduction to the public that ships can be an alternative mode for going home for Eid,” he said.

During the Eid 2023 transportation period, the Ministry of Transportation predicts an increase in the number of travelers.

Based on a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation’s Transportation Policy Agency, the number of home travelers amounted to 123.8 million people, an increase compared to 2022 of 85.5 million people.

The Ministry of Transportation hopes that the free homecoming of motorbikes by ship can reduce the existing density of homecoming.

“With the predicted increase in the number of travelers in 2023, we hope that this free homecoming can have a positive impact,” said Hendri.

The following are the requirements to take part in the free motorbike homecoming program by ship, namely having a valid STNK and SIM, the condition of the motorbike is roadworthy, there must be no additional modifications/accessories on the vehicle that can interfere with the lashing process, there must be a middle stand/standard (standard two) ), must be equipped with a rear handle.

Furthermore, the size of the wheels and tires is standard or according to the manufacturer’s specifications, no left, right or rear side boxes are allowed, the number of helmets must match the number of passengers, motorbike gasoline when transported must be in a state of a maximum of 1 liter/motorcycle, and motorbike keys can be entrusted to the executive officer/committee.

Meanwhile, the documents that must be brought at the time of registration are the identity card of the prospective traveler, the original STNK and the original driver’s license. (mhn/bbs)
