South Sumatra Legislative Council Urges Governor to Repair Damaged Roads on Pagaralam–Empat Lawang Route

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Member of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD from Electoral District (Dapil) 7, Alfrenzi Panggarbesi, asked the Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru to immediately repair the provincial road connecting Pagaralam–Jarai–Empat Lawang to the Bengkulu border.

The condition of the road is currently reported to be severely damaged and has become a complaint from the public.

“I have informally conveyed this directly to the Governor and Deputy Governor, and I asked that the road be repaired immediately,” said Alfrenzi to reporters, Saturday (12/4/2025).
Alfrenzi explained that the road damage in the area had been going on for almost a year. During that time, South Sumatra was led by two Acting Governors who he considered to have paid little attention to infrastructure in the region, especially areas far from the center of government in Palembang City.

“Therefore, after Mr. Herman Deru and Mr. Cik Ujang were officially inaugurated a month ago, I hope that infrastructure repairs in Dapil 7 can be a priority with adequate budget allocation,” said the Secretary of the NasDem Party Faction.

He said that the provincial road from Pagaralam to Empat Lawang is quite long and passes through several points with unstable soil contours, especially around the banks of the Musi River which are prone to landslides. According to him, a revision of the construction design is needed so that the road is more durable and does not deteriorate quickly.

“At least every year there must be a routine budget for maintenance so that the damage does not get worse,” said the former senior journalist.

Alfrenzi also invited the public to be patient, considering that the South Sumatra Provincial Government is currently in the process of shifting the budget after the inauguration of the definitive governor and deputy governor.

“We all hope that this process will be completed soon and road construction can begin soon,” he concluded. (ojn/ril)
