Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The government through the Ministry of Religion has set the start of fasting or 1 Ramadhan 1443 Hijri/2022 AD to fall on Sunday (3/4), after it was decided through an isbat session on Friday.
“It is unanimously agreed that 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijri will fall on Sunday (Sunday) April 3, 2022,” said Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas during a press conference to determine the Isbat session, Friday.
The Minister of Religion reported that based on the results of the hilal monitoring from 101 points in 34 provinces, they did not see the hilal according to the prerequisites set by MABIMS, namely the hilal height of 3 degrees with an elongation of 6.4 degrees.
“The height of the hilal in all parts of Indonesia is at a position of 1 degree 6.78 minutes to 2 degrees 10.02 minutes. This is the position of the new moon based on reckoning,” he said.
This isbat session was attended by a number of representatives of religious organizations, astronomers, and other invited guests. As was the case with last year’s implementation, the Ministry of Religion imposed a restriction on trial participants and all representatives present were required to follow the health protocol.
In addition, the implementation is also carried out online and offline. Thus, the public can directly watch it through impressions on the Ministry of Religion’s official social media pages.
The Isbat session was held on Friday from 17.00 WIB until it was closed with the determination of the beginning of this year’s fasting. The activity began with an open presentation of the position of the new crescent moon (hilal) based on astronomical data by experts.
The Isbat Assembly considered the initial information based on the results of astronomical calculations (hisab) and the results of field confirmation through a monitoring mechanism (rukyatul hilal).
The activity continued with the Maghrib prayer in congregation, then a closed session was held. After that, the isbat trial was announced through a press conference.
The determination of the beginning of Ramadan is different from what Muhammadiyah believes. Muhammadiyah has set 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijri on Saturday. Thus, the members of the association will perform the Tarawih Prayers tonight. (mhn/bbs)
