Erick: Three presidential candidates could continue government programs

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – SOE Minister Erick Thohir said the three presidential candidates (candidates) in the 2024 Presidential Election were considered to be able to continue President Jokowi’s baton of national development.

The three presidential candidates are Ganjar Pranowo, Prabowo Subianto and Anies Rasyid Baswedan.

“All three are good. Pak Anies is good, Pak Ganjar is good, Pak Prabowo is good. Yes, there is only a commitment,” said Erick after attending the opening of the MPR Annual Session and the 2023 Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI at the Parliament Complex, Wednesday.

He also recalled President Jokowi’s message which said that every society is allowed to blame one another. Because, this condition is very common in democratic countries.

Nevertheless, the PSSI chairman appealed that there would be no grudges between each party. According to him, all aspects can still be changed if they are deemed not good for the progress of the country.

He also mentioned his experience at the beginning of holding the position of Minister of BUMN. Where good programs are maintained, while those that are not good are repaired without blaming the previous minister.

“What year was Jiwasraya as an example? 2006. Did I blame the previous minister? No. But I made sure this had to be finished,” he said.

Previously, MPR RI Chairman Bambang Soesatyo had high hopes for the presidential candidates (capres) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres) who would later win the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) to be able to continue the struggle of the current government.

“More than that, we hope that whoever is elected will continue the baton of national development, be consistent in taking positive steps, and continue what has been started by previous leaders,” Bambang said during a speech at the Indonesian MPR Annual Session and The 2023 Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (16/8).

For this reason, he emphasized that support must be given so that the replacements for President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin can continue Indonesia’s development.

“Whoever is later elected as president and vice president, we must support them together to carry out this big mission towards an advanced Indonesia,” he said.

According to him, the democratic process does not only stop at the election stage and the change of leaders. However, the spirit of democracy must produce leaders who provide policies for the welfare of society.

“With that spirit, let’s welcome the 2024 elections to create constitutional democracy while maintaining national unity,” said Bamsoet. (mhn/bbs)
