The Governor of East Java is optimistic that Sijile Beach will be visited by many tourists

Surabaya, The Indonesia Post – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa is optimistic that Sijile Beach in the Merak Baluran tourist area of Situbondo will be visited by many tourists as the construction of road infrastructure that divides the Baluran National Park is completed.

“Today’s tourism trend is more nature-oriented. Previously, Sijile Beach was still relatively difficult to reach due to the absence of proper infrastructure, so after it is inaugurated, one must be prepared to be flooded with tourists. Both local and foreign,” Governor Khofifah said after visiting Sijile Beach, Monday .

During her visit, Governor Khofifah also inaugurated the construction of an access connecting Sidomulyo Hamlet to Labuhan Merak Hamlet, Sumberwaru Village. The road that can withstand loads of up to 5 tonnes has a length of 10 kilometers and a width of 3 meters and a one meter shoulder.

The inauguration of this road is a follow-up to a joint agreement between the Director General of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and the Situbondo Regent regarding Preservation of the Functions of the Baluran National Park Area. Namely through Community Empowerment and Conservation Partnership in the Labuhan Merak Special Zone (former PT Gunung Gumitir HGU) on September 3, 2020.

“Sijile Beach is very beautiful, the coral reefs which are home to fish and various other marine biota are still well preserved. This is a very extraordinary attraction,” said the governor.

She stated, the beauty of Sijile Beach need not be doubted because this beach is still untouched, aka it is still a virgin. Moreover, there are seven other continuous beaches in Situbondo which are also still virgins so that the panoramas offered are very natural and original.

“The currents of the sea water on this beach are calm, there are almost no ripples and not too deep. It is very suitable for swimming and other water tourism. So the people of East Java who visit Situbondo must stop by and enjoy the beauty of Sijile Beach,” said the former Minister of Social Affairs.

Regarding infrastructure support, Khofifah said that the Situbondo Regency Government and the East Java Provincial Government would continue to make efforts to improve the accessibility of tourism infrastructure in Situbondo.

According to Khofifah, Situbondo has many beaches so it needs infrastructure support for the development of the tourism sector.

“Infrastructure development will be carried out in stages, it is hoped that if the tourism sector continues to develop, the welfare of the surrounding community will also increase,” she said. (mhn/bbs)
