Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, sees the need for optimal cooperation from all parties to enforce health protocol rules so that individuals do not take advantage of them.
“Optimize cooperation with the TNI/Polri so that quarantine rules are not used by irresponsible persons to take advantage, including cases of PCR test counterfeiting must be guarded as well as possible,” said Puan in a statement in Jakarta, Friday.
Puan highlighted the rampant cases of quarantine “jockeys” for international travellers, so the COVID-19 Task Force must be more alert to potential cases of quarantine process fraud.
She asked the COVID-19 Task Force to strictly enforce quarantine rules, including by conducting repeated PCR tests for people who had just come from abroad.
“Beware of those who try to circumvent the quarantine rules. We hope that the officers will give sanctions to anyone who violates the Quarantine Law,” she said.
This, according to her, especially in the latest regulation of the COVID-19 Task Force, which states that international travelers only need to undergo quarantine for 5 days if they are declared negative after carrying out a PCR retest.
Puan assessed that currently the rules are getting easier. Therefore, the discipline should be getting better.
She also asked for understanding from the Indonesian people and foreigners regarding the quarantine rules. This is because discipline towards the rules of the process will bring benefits to the person concerned.
“We need to see how athletes and officials at PON XX Papua are disciplined to follow the rules. Even though they came with the noble aim of fighting for their region, all the contingents were ordered to undergo quarantine before and after arriving at the venue,” she said. (ray/bbs)
