Palembang, The indonesia Post – In an effort to formulate new steps for compliance with occupational safety and health (K3) standards in South Sumatra Province, South Sumatra Regional Secretary Edward Candra attended the K3 discussion meeting in South Sumatra Province with the theme “Challenges, Future, and Urgency of the presence of the Provincial Occupational Safety and Health Council”. Which was held at the Azza Hotel Palembang. Thursday, 08/05/2025.
South Sumatra Regional Secretary Edward Candra said that every worker certainly wants a healthy and safe work environment. Thus, the risk of work accidents to the emergence of various diseases due to negligence and other things can be minimized so that work productivity can be guaranteed amidst the progress and improvement of the current industry so that it really needs awareness of the implementation of K3.
“We strongly support and certainly hope that later there will be recommendations from this discussion so that this Occupational Safety Council can be reactivated, hopefully this K3 Discussion Meeting will be more meaningful, to synergize together to prioritize K3 as a work priority,” he said.
Dr. (C) Agita Diora Fitri, Chair of the South Sumatra K3 Forum, said that the challenges in implementing K3 in South Sumatra Province are still very large, cases of work accidents that continue to occur, low compliance with safety standards and minimal supervision are issues that must be addressed together immediately, requiring serious cooperation.
“Therefore, this discussion is for us to explore the latest facts related to K3, identify challenges, and most importantly, formulate a safer future for workers, one of our strategic steps is the formation of a Provincial Occupational Safety and Health Council,” he explained
He continued that he hoped that the activity could strengthen the synergy between the Government, Industry, Academics and all related parties to create solutions for better K3 implementation. (ojn/ril)
