Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru established a relationship with the community of Babatan Saudagar Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, at the Babatan Saudagar Village Office Field, Tuesday (11/3/2025).
On that occasion, Herman Deru emphasized the importance of community participation in maintaining road and bridge infrastructure that has been built by the government.
“In Ogan Ilir, there are certain areas where the infrastructure has been repaired but is damaged again repeatedly. This is influenced by many things, such as the places where the road was built are mostly swamps so that the construction costs are more expensive with a more complex process,” said HD.
So the solution is that we all maintain it, the Transportation Agency and the Police ensure that vehicles are not overloaded when passing through the bridge. HD added that a sense of community ownership is needed to maintain infrastructure together.
“If this is fostered, we can remind each other, meaning we all have a role. The government finds the funds, from the community it is managed for the community, its use is for the community,” he said.
Herman Deru also invited all parties, including the Regent of Ogan Ilir Panca Wijaya Akbar and members of the South Sumatra DPRD, to jointly maintain road and bridge infrastructure.
“The development of South Sumatra must be supported by all parties. We hope so so that there is a moral responsibility for us to provide better services to the community,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Ogan Ilir, Panca Wijaya Akbar, expressed his gratitude to the South Sumatra Provincial Government for the assistance in infrastructure development in his area. He said that the Jakabaring to Tanjung Raja road section which had been transferred to the South Sumatra Province since 2023, had provided great benefits to the community.
“This bridge is very helpful, but since it was repaired, the intensity of vehicles has increased more than 10 times, resulting in several iron bridges being unable to support vehicles. This 1 has just been built, there are still 14 more bridges,” said Panca.
He hopes that in the future, bridge construction in Ogan Ilir can be carried out in stages every year, considering that there are still many bridges that need repair.
“Our hope for the future is not one by one, every year 5 bridges because this is the South Sumatra provincial section. Several other provincial sections in Ogan Ilir also need minor repairs, we and the Ogan Ilir Regency Government are not giving up, if possible in the future it will be handled optimally,” he said.
On that occasion, Governor Herman Deru inaugurated the STA 09+544 TRANS SP 1-SP Tanah Abang Bridge, the Lais Pemulutan 1 Bridge, the STA 02+510 Trans SP 1-SP Tanah Abang Bridge.
This gathering was attended by the Forkopimda of Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra DPRD member Sri Sutandi, and the Heads of South Sumatra OPDs. (ojn/ril)
