Kayuagung, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru, continues to show his deep concern for the people, even in remote villages. Today, he attended a prayer gathering commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Gedung Rejo Village, Mesuji Raya District, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency, Sunday (July 27, 2025).
In his remarks, Governor Herman Deru praised the unity of Gedung Rejo residents who consistently maintain cleanliness and harmony. He also encouraged the community to use the anniversary as a moment of reflection to evaluate existing programs and plan future steps.
“We must decide which programs should be continued and which should be stopped if they are no longer relevant,” he said.
Responding to OKI Regent Muchendi’s aspiration to establish a toll road exit in Mesuji Raya, Governor Herman Deru expressed positive support.
“Do we all agree on setting the exit point in Mataram Jaya? Once agreed, the location should not be changed anymore. This will bring us closer to Java. Let’s push this forward, so that Gedung Rejo Village becomes more prosperous and maintains its unity,” Herman Deru emphasized, showing his full support.
He also reminded the people of Gedung Rejo of the importance of keeping up with technological advancements to avoid being left behind by the times.
Meanwhile, Ogan Komering Ilir Regent H. Muchendi Mahzareki, S.E., M.Si., expressed his gratitude for the Governor’s countless visits to Gedung Rejo Village and his continuous attention to the needs of OKI residents.
He explained that documents for the planned toll exit leading to Mesuji Raya are being prepared, with the hope that it will boost the local economy.
“Hopefully this toll exit can begin construction next year. We also hope Mr. Governor can assist our efforts to realize this exit in Mesuji Raya,” he said.
At the same event, Gedung Rejo Village Head, Joko Raharjo, expressed his immense happiness over the Governor’s presence at the village’s anniversary, hoping it would bring blessings.
