The South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) supports strengthening coordination for securing the 2026 homecoming traffic flow

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The South Sumatra Provincial Government held a cross-sectoral coordination meeting (Rakor) to prepare for the 1447 Hijriah Eid al-Fitr celebrations. The event, themed “Safe Homecoming, Happy Families,” took place at Griya Agung on Thursday (March 12, 2026).

This coordination meeting is a strategic step taken by the regional government and relevant agencies to ensure the smooth flow of homecoming and return traffic during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday season in South Sumatra. Several aspects were comprehensively discussed, from transportation route readiness and infrastructure conditions to integrated security strategies through Operation Ketupat Musi 2026.

The Chairman of the South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Andie Dinialdie, emphasized the legislature’s full support for the government’s and all stakeholders’ efforts to ensure the success of this year’s homecoming security.

According to him, cross-sector coordination is key to ensuring all public services run optimally during the homecoming and return travel periods.

“Transportation and infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, ports, and airports, must be ensured to be in optimal condition. This is crucial to ensuring people can travel safely and comfortably,” he said.

Andie added that public safety must be a top priority in every policy during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period. He reminded all agencies to ensure the suitability of transportation facilities and the readiness of homecoming routes to minimize the potential for congestion and traffic accidents.

“Public safety must be a top priority. Therefore, transportation feasibility and infrastructure readiness must be ensured,” he stressed.

In addition to traffic security, the coordination meeting also discussed the readiness of public service facilities, such as health posts, security in tourist areas, and the stability of the supply of basic necessities during Eid.

The meeting was attended by a number of officials within the South Sumatra Provincial Government, including the Assistant for Government and Public Welfare, Head of the Transportation Agency, Head of the Public Works, Highways and Spatial Planning Agency, Head of the Health Agency, Head of the Trade Agency, Head of the Housing and Settlement Areas Agency, Head of the Culture and Tourism Agency, Head of the Industry Agency, Head of the Social Agency, Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol), BPBD Executives, and Satpol PP officers.

Security forces were also present, including representatives from the South Sumatra Regional Police and the Sriwijaya II Military Command, who played a role in maintaining security stability during the homecoming period.

Through this cross-sectoral coordination meeting, the regional government hopes that all elements can work in an integrated manner to provide the best possible service to the public, ensuring a smooth, safe, and comfortable Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow in South Sumatra in 2026. (mhn/ril)
