Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru conducted a Ramadan Safari at the Ogan Ilir Regent’s official residence on Wednesday (March 4, 2026). This activity is part of the South Sumatra Provincial Government’s routine program for the holy month of Ramadan.
Ogan Ilir Regent Panca Wijaya Akbar expressed his gratitude for the willingness of the Governor of South Sumatra and his entourage to visit and socialize with the people of Ogan Ilir.
“Thank you, Governor, for coming to Ogan Ilir. Perhaps the Governor has something to say to the people of Ogan Ilir,” said Panca Wijaya Akbar in his remarks.
On the occasion, Governor Herman Deru stated that the holy month of Ramadan is an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties between the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the people of Ogan Ilir.
He also emphasized that fasting does not discriminate based on position or status.
All Muslims have the same obligation to observe Ramadan. “Generals, village heads, regents, and governors are all obligated to fast. Our fast-breaking time is the same,” said Herman Deru, greeted by smiles and laughter from the audience.
Herman Deru also reminded everyone to remain productive during the holy month of Ramadan. According to him, adjusting working hours is necessary to ensure religious services continue without compromising performance. “That’s why the start time has been delayed to 8 a.m.,” he said.
On this occasion, the Governor of South Sumatra, accompanied by the Chairperson of the South Sumatra PKK TP, Hj Feby Deru, handed over aid and gifts to the underprivileged.
The Ramadan Safari was also attended by the South Sumatra Provincial Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) and the Ogan Ilir Regency Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda). (mhn/ril)
