PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Deputy Governor Mawardi Yahya said, the war against drugs must be carried out systematically, structured and massive by all parties. This was conveyed while attending the peak of the commemoration of the International Anti Narcotics Day (HANI) 2020 at the Office of the South Sumatra Provincial Narcotics Agency (BNNP).
In fact, measurable decisive action must also be given to dealers to provide a deterrent effect so that the chain of drug distribution is broken.
“Eradication of this drug cannot only be done by government officials. The community and family must also play a role and move together,” said Mawardi.
Moreover, drug victims themselves are currently dominated by millennials or adolescents. That is certainly concerning because teenagers are the generation that is expected to be able to build a better nation going forward.
Based on the records of the central government, the number of drug abuse in the country reached 3.37 million people with an age range of 10 years to 50 years. While in 2018 the number of abuse rose to 5.6 million people. Ironically, 2.9 million people are students.
To that end, Mawardi stressed, the implementation of drug eradication and education to the community must continue to be done so that the commitment to 100 percent of healthy living can be realized.
“Especially now that we are also facing Covid-19. Certainly, the important role of each element is needed,” he explained.
It is known, the peak of HANI 2020’s commemoration with the theme “Living 100 Percent in the New Normal Era” was led by Vice President Ri KH Ma’ruf Amin through a video conference.
Previously, Ma’ruf Amin stressed that the groups most exposed to drugs have an age range of 10 years to 30 years.
“This is what needs special attention. We are also currently confronted with the problem of co-19. Eradication can be done simultaneously because the handling has a way that is not much different. Law enforcement against drugs must be done consistently,” he explained.
On that occasion, the Vice President also inaugurated a portal for complaints of drug abuse that can be accessed through aduannarkoba.bnn.go.id
Also present at the event, the Head of the National Narcotics Agency of South Sumatra, Inspector General John Turman Panjaitan, the Regional Military Commander II Sriwijaya Maj. Gen. Irwan, the North Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol Eko Indra Heri, and the South Sumatra province forkompimda. (jekk/rel)
