Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru (HD) held his Friday Safari while inaugurating the minaret of the Husnul Khotimah Sukawinatan Mosque in Palembang.
In his remarks HD said that the construction of the Husnul Khotimah Mosque minaret was carried out with local community self-help funds. HD assessed that the self-help development pattern should be a model for other communities.
“This is good, build a mosque with self-help funds from the surrounding community. This must be imitated by other mosque administrators if they want to expand the mosque, “he said.
HD also asked the public not to ask for donations from roadside communities in the process of building houses of worship.
“The Friday Safari which I have been doing since 2005 is an effort to invite the public so that if they want to ask for it, it is not on the side of the road but to government officials,” he said.
According to him, in addition to building mosque facilities to increase the comfort of worship, people are also asked to widen the mosque if the number of congregations cannot be accommodated anymore. So that the mosque which was built magnificently and luxuriously was not in vain because there were no worshipers.
“Do not let the mosque be good, but the congregation does not exist after it is built, prospering the mosque is our common duty as Muslims, especially the local community,” he said.
HD hopes that with the new minaret, the community can be more active in worshiping at the mosque because they always hear clearly the call to prayer from the mosque.
“Hopefully this is beneficial for the community and makes the people of Sukawinatan even better in carrying out their obligations to Allah SWT,” he said. (ojn / rel)
