Eradicating Corruption, KPK Asked Regional Heads in West Java to Implement Corruption Prevention Efforts in Governance

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri asked regional heads in the West Java Province (Jabar) to ‘close ranks’ in combating corruption, one of which is by implementing corruption prevention efforts in governance.

This was conveyed in a coordination meeting with the theme “Synergy and Collaboration on Corruption Eradication in Local Governments” which took place in West Bandung Regency, West Java, Tuesday.

“I invite all regents and mayors to close ranks to eradicate corruption because corruption is a serious crime. Corruption causes the state to fail in realising the goal of the state, namely social justice, ”said Firli in his statement received in Jakarta.

According to Firli, corruption is not only a crime that harms the country’s finances or economy but is part of the crime of robbing the people of their rights.

As a series of meetings, all 27 regional heads in West Java who attended signed a joint commitment in order to support an integrated corruption eradication program.

Meanwhile West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil reminded regents and mayors in the West Java region, especially those who had just served to be vigilant in managing their government.

“The meeting this time is important because there are many new regional heads that need adjustments to their bureaucratic system. In addition, the new regional head should not be lulled by the new position. In accordance with the direction of the KPK, it must also focus on preventing corruption. The most expensive price for a regional head is political will. Ensure objective employee rotations or transfers. Stay away from transactional practices, “he said.

According to KPK data in 2020, the total score of governance implementation in the West Java Provincial Government which is covered by the “Monitoring Center for Prevention” (MCP) application system is 91.80 percent.
