Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru (HD) inspects the land for the construction of the airport intersection retention pond.
HD said the construction of the retention pond will gradually answer residents’ complaints, especially regarding the problem of flooding.
According to him, after the retention pond is completed, it can reduce the impact of water inundation in several places, especially in 3 urban villages where flooding problems will be resolved, namely in Sukarami Village, Kebun Bunga Village and Sukajaya Village.
“I reviewed this at one point where the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the Palembang City Government have completed the land acquisition, this 4 hectares of land is to be made a new retention pond,” he said.
In addition to the support from the central government, HD also expects the support of the local community because the land has become the most suitable location for a retention pond to be built.
Meanwhile, the head of the Suka Damai RW, Yurizal, expressed the hope that residents around the retention pond area would build the retention pond as soon as possible.
“Here, I convey the hopes of local residents and a second thank you to Governor H Herman Deru, first for repairing the road in Suka Damai and second for the construction of this retention pond,” he told HD. (mhn/ril)
