Indonesia urges G20 countries to accelerate recovery through digitalization

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesia encourages G20 countries to grow sustainably through digitalization considering that digital technology is able to facilitate the process of recovering from the impact of the pandemic in various sectors.

“We invite the whole world (especially the G20 countries) to collaborate, recover, and rise together from the COVID-19 pandemic and grow stronger in a sustainable manner. Digitalization is important so that we can recover stronger,” said spokesman for the Indonesian G20 Presidency, Maudy Ayunda. , Thursday.

Maudy said, this invitation has been stated in the main theme of the G20 Indonesia Presidency, namely recovering together, recovering stronger or recovering together and rising stronger.

In that case, G20 countries are expected to be able to use digital technology as the main means of recovery, as has been done in Indonesia.

“In the last two years, Indonesia is carrying out an acceleration of digital transformation through four strategic sectors, namely; digital infrastructure, digital government, digital society, and the digital economy,” said Maudy.

According to her, digital activities in various aspects of life have encouraged the national economic ecosystem, increased mastery of information technology, as well as accelerated digital transformation. Thus, the issue of digital transformation is rightly made one of the world’s priority issues.

“Indonesia will encourage G20 member countries to form real actions and collaborations, in order to realize digital transformation in various sectors that is more inclusive and equitable,” she explained.

Maudy further explained that discussions on the use of digital technology were carried out by various working groups, including trade, investment and industry working groups, agriculture working groups, tourism working groups, think tanks, and business20.

The discussions were quite diverse, covering the digitization of the agricultural sector, education, trade, and smart villages.

Maudy said that the acceleration of digital transformation in Indonesia would be able to encourage the development of a digital-based economy, especially from the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector.

She gave an example of the tanimbar woven blouse from Maluku Province that he was wearing, which he could obtain without having to physically go to his shop thanks to the digitization of markets or shops.

Digital technology also makes it easier for Indonesians to get health services, education, and economic transaction activities.

In addition, he continued, the expansion of access to digital technology can encourage inclusiveness of the community and related stakeholders, including those in 3T areas (frontier, remote, and underdeveloped).

“Therefore, the G20 Presidency of Indonesia is expected to be able to present a breakthrough that will pass on the governance of the world’s digital economy in the future.
