Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia assessed that Indonesia should have played a major role in making the Indo-Pacific region peaceful, prosperous and providing stability to the world.
“As a big country, Indonesia should play a role in making the Indo-Pacific a peaceful, prosperous and stable region,” he said in his latest post on his personal Instagram account @bahlillhadalia, Tuesday.
Bahlil himself was part of the delegation that went with President Jokowi to Washington DC, United States of America, to attend a series of ASEAN-US Special Summit (AUSS) meetings.
President Jokowi and his delegation will conduct a series of working visit agendas on May 11-13, 2022.
Together with other ASEAN leaders, President Jokowi will participate in a series of meetings of the ASEAN-US Special Summit (AUSS) for two days.
Indonesia is the coordinator of the ASEAN-US partnership for the period 2021-2024. Indonesia hopes that this Special Summit will result in cooperation that can contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
President Jokowi will attend a series of meetings, including meetings with members of Congress; meetings with America’s great CEOs; meeting with US Vice President Kamala Harris and the Americas Climate Change Team; and the Summit of ASEAN Leaders and US President Joe Biden.
“God willing, in the next two days in the US, we will accompany the President in several series of meetings to discuss health, climate change, sustainable development, economics and human resource development as well as education, including meetings with several US companies,” Bahlil added.
Besides Bahlil, also accompanying the President and Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo on the flight to Washington DC, including the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, was in the US to prepare for the President’s working visit. (ojn/bbs)
