HD Commitment Targets 100 Percent of South Sumatra Area Covered by Electricity

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru continues to strive so that the entire South Sumatra region can be 100 percent electrified. This includes electricity supply for rural community settlements in forest areas.

“The target of 100 percent of villages having electricity that we want will not change,” said Herman Deru when holding a meeting with General Manager (GM) of PT PLN (Persero) WS2JB Main Unit, Saleh Siswanto.

According to him, currently there are still around 33 villages in forest areas that have not been able to feel electricity.

“There are 33 villages in the forest area that do not have electricity. This is our homework and we must try to get electricity to the area,” he said.

This is also because South Sumatra is known as a supplier and source of energy on the island of Sumatra.

“South Sumatra is a source of energy, including electricity. But there are several villages that have not been covered by electricity and this is the opposite. I ask for this to be done as soon as possible,” he said.

He also suggested that PT PLN WS2JB try to minimize the occurrence of power outages.

“Power outages for maintenance are okay, but don’t take too long. Because this will harm the community,” he explained.

Not only that, Herman Deru also asked Saleh Siswanto as the new GM of PT PLN WS2JB to continue the efforts made by the previous GM.

“I want what GM has done previously to continue to be adopted and improved, so that it brings benefits to society,” he explained.

Meanwhile, GM PT PLN WS2JB Saleh Siswanto said his party was ready to collaborate with the government in efforts to fulfill electricity supply.

“We will strive for this. We are also committed so that the presence of PLN can be felt by all levels of society,” he said.

Also present were Assistant I for Government and Welfare Drs. H Edward Chandra, MH, GM Main Unit for South Sumatra Power Plant Djoko Mulyono, GM Main Unit for South Sumatra Development M Dahlan Djamaludin. (mhn/ril)
