HD Collaborates with Indonesian Midwives Association to Fight Stunting in South Sumatra

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru wants the South Sumatra Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) to be at the forefront of fighting stunting in South Sumatra by educating the public about nutritional adequacy. Good for pregnant women and teenagers or adult women who are ready to get married.

This was revealed by HD when opening the VII Regional Work Meeting (Rakerda) and the 71st IBI Anniversary of South Sumatra IBI in 2022 with the theme “IBI Consolidation in Facing the Development of Maternal and Child Health Services (KIA), Family Planning (KB) and Reproductive Health (KESPRO). ) during the Covid-19 pandemic”.

“Stunting in South Sumatra is still high, let’s together reduce the stunting rate by providing guidance to young women and women before marriage. Because there are still many people who do not have sufficient knowledge about nutritional imbalances, especially in villages,” he said.

Therefore, HD hopes that the distribution of midwives can be carried out evenly to villages and re-invigorate Posyandu.

“Through this work meeting, I want there to be a discussion and produce recommendations to the leadership starting from the sub-district head, village head, regent/mayor as well as the governor on what to do in the fight against stunting,” he said.

Midwives are needed by the community, then supported by the government with all schemes to optimize the performance of midwives either independently or through services established by the government. So this is the role of all parties which God willing, if solid, will produce achievements with reduced stunting rates, continued HD.

Also present were the General Chair of PP IBI, Dr. Emi Nurjasmi, M.Kes., Chair of IBI throughout South Sumatra, Kadinkes, dr. Trisna Warman, M.Kes., Head of DPPPA, Henny Yulianti, S.IP, M.M. (mhn/ril)
