The G20 contribution to Indonesia’s GDP reached IDR 7.5 trillion

Nusa Dua, The Indonesia Post – Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Head of Support for the Organization of the G20 Event, stated that the contribution of the G20 Summit series reached 533 million dollars (approximately Rp7.5 trillion) to Indonesia’s GDP in 2022.

“The holding of the G20 Summit will provide many benefits for Indonesia,” Luhut said at a press conference ahead of the G20 Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Saturday.

In addition, domestic consumption driven by the G20 forum series is estimated to increase to Rp1.7 trillion and generate employment to more than 33 thousand people, especially in the transportation, accommodation, MICE, and MSME sectors.

“Most of the money will revolve in Bali. We know that during yesterday’s pandemic Bali suffered a lot… now we hope this can heal the wounds that were so deep in Bali over the past two years,” said Luhut.

Luhut explained that the G20 had an impact on the national economy and Bali, as well as increasing international confidence that Indonesia has a strategic role in the global arena.

He also invited all Indonesian people to jointly succeed in the G20 Summit under the Indonesian presidency, as a historic moment that occurs every 20 years.

“I invite all Indonesian people to bring the G20 Summit forum to be useful for the world. Show that this nation is a great nation, a nation capable of promoting peace,” said Luhut.

“We are ready to welcome this G20 summit,” he added.

Held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on 15-16 November 2022, the G20 Summit will be attended by 17 heads of state/government.

The leaders of the G20 countries that have confirmed their attendance at the summit are South Africa, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, India, Britain, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, South Korea, France, China, Turkey and the European Union. Meanwhile, heads of state/government from Russia, Brazil, and Mexico stated that they could not attend. (mhn/bbs)
