Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The expression of joy could not be hidden from the dozens of Market (Pasar) Cinde traders whose stalls had caught fire at the end of last November. The reason is that soon they will be able to return to trading as usual after their kiosk is revitalized and they even receive capital assistance from Governor Herman Deru.
The traders expressed their joy directly by one of the fruit traders, Yulianti at the Cinde Market traders’ thanksgiving event for the revitalization of the Cinde market which was held by the Indonesian Market Traders Association (IKAPPI) DWP Sumsel, on the Cinde Market yard, Friday (14/1/23) afternoon.
“Representing all traders at Pasar Cinde, I would like to express my gratitude from the traders. We are grateful that because of the concern of Mr. Governor Herman Deru, our kiosk has been rebuilt. So that we can soon trade again as before.
Honestly sir, we are very grateful for this compensation because it is very useful as additional capital for us to rise from adversity. I hope you will always be given health to lead South Sumatra,” said Yulianti half-stupidly.
Responding to the expression of the Cinde Market trader, the Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru, admitted that it was his duty as Regional Head. However, he said that he was not completely relieved to see the condition of the Cinde Market traders who had had to trade with limited space for several years.
“Actually, if I’m honest, I’m not relieved yet. My real wish is for traders to be really comfortable selling. But we have to face a long process. When I took office as governor in October 2018, this market land had been transferred,” he explained.
He also admitted that he was sad to see traders who ended up having difficulty selling. Even though Cinde Market is one of the modern markets that has been the pride of the people of South Sumatra, especially Palembang since ancient times.
He also said that from the bottom of his heart he felt what the traders felt and was sorry for the fire incident at the Cinde market.
Appearing to be present at the occasion were Assistant II of the South Sumatra Provincial Government, Dharma Budhi, and Head of the Palembang Cinde Market, Oma Falhero. (mhn/ril)
