Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo stated that 2023 is a very good time to rise and accelerate the growth of Indonesia’s tourism sector as fast as possible.
“This year will be a moment of revival of Indonesian tourism,” Jokowi said at the launch of the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) Festival 2023 which was delivered virtually, in Jakarta, Saturday.
The government is said to have launched the National Movement (Gernas) Proud of Made in Indonesia (BBI) to invite more members of the public to travel within the country, so as to boost the growth of domestic tourists (wisnus) up to twofold compared to the previous year.
For this reason, he continued, collaboration and cooperation are needed to improve the quality of destinations, increase attractive attractions and events, display innovation and creativity to increase competitiveness.
“This year there will be 110 KEN and 65 sport, music and creative event calendars from all over Indonesia which will be a magnet to attract as many foreign tourists and tourists as possible to come and enjoy the uniqueness of tourism throughout the country,” said the President.
With the spirit of sustainability, these events are considered to be a promotion to increase Indonesian tourism in the eyes of domestic and foreign tourists.
“I am sure that with the various efforts we have made, improving tourism facilities and infrastructure, ease of transportation and connectivity, readiness of human resources and accommodation, the tourism and creative economy sectors will rise and recover stronger. By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I launch KEN 2023 today,” said Jokowi. (mhn/bbs)
