HD: “National Seminar on Democratic Schools: Developing Yourself to Become a Democratic Being”

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru attended the National Seminar and Democracy School Alumni Congress organized by the Democracy School Alumni.

In his speech, HD said he hoped that this democratic school would be formalized. The initiative to establish this school is a noble initiative to transmit knowledge to the wider community.

“That everyone has the right to choose and be elected. Hopefully the knowledge we will get from the resource persons can develop ourselves to become democratic beings,” said HD.

HD assesses that the essence obtained from this school is, apart from interpreting democracy, but also being a forum for mutual respect.

“In general, democracy in South Sumatra is running very well, it’s just a matter of maintaining it so that our future generations are better, that’s why the Democracy School was held,” concluded HD.

Chairman of the National Seminar Committee and Alumni Congress of the School of Democracy, Arman Sakri, reported that the participants consisted of political actors, political institutions and students.

“Hopefully the national seminar will produce recommendations as we hope for. And at the Democracy School Alumni Congress, administrators will be elected who can enable Democracy School Alumni to take an even wider role in South Sumatra,” he said. (mhn/ril)
