South Sumatra Governor Allocates Rp37 Billion, Preventing Forest and Land Fire 2020

PALEMBANG, TheIndonesiaPost – The South Sumatra Provincial Government is not only busy dealing with the prevention of Coronavirus COVID-19 but is preparing to anticipate and anticipate forest and land fires (Karhutla) in South Sumatra Province, with a budget of Rp. 37 billion. This budgeted figure in 2020 increased significantly from 2019 ago which amounted to Rp1.7 billion.

As released by the South Sumatra Provincial Government Public Relations, a budget of Rp. 37 billion is allocated to 10 regions in South Sumatra that are prone to Karhutla, including the District of OKI, Rp. 6 billion, Ogan Ilir, Rp. 5 billion, Muba, Rp. 5 billion, Banyuasin, Rp. 5 billion, and Muara Enim, Rp. 5 billion. Then the PALI Regency Rp5 billion, Musi Rawas Rp1 billion, Muratara Rp1 billion, OKU Rp2 billion, and East OKU Rp2 billion.

“This is a leap that can be enough to give us a stimulant in preventing forest and land fire,” said Regional Secretary (Sekda) of South Sumatra Province Nasrun Umar, while conducting a Video Conference at the Command Center of the Governor’s Office.

According to Nasrun, the Province of South Sumatra as one of the provinces is prone to Karhutla status, because the Province of South Sumatra has the second largest peat prone area in Sumatra.

Nasrun reported, in anticipation of the 2020 Forestry and Fire being carried out by the South Sumatra Provincial Government, it was approved on November 18, 2019, in this case, that the Governor and Regents / Mayors of the South Sumatra had synergized and supported the improvement and mitigation of the Forest and Land Fire.

Then, the Regional Secretary also said that the South Sumatra Provincial Government had created an approved team and arranged forest and land fires based on the Governor’s Decree which was directly chaired by the Regional Secretary divided into 7 work program areas. (rail / hms)
