Palembang, The Indonesia Post – To raise and introduce handicraft products and cultural potentials, including maintaining local wisdom in South Sumatra. This time the South Sumatra Provincial Deskranasda is holding a Natural Fiber Festival and a South Sumatra Sriwijaya Craft Souvenirs Competition.
Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Deskranasda Hj. Febrita Lustia Herman Deru said that currently Deskranasda with its work program always strives and is committed to conducting coaching and education activities for craftsmen in South Sumatra to continue to innovate in developing craft products by raising local wisdom in their respective regions.
This festival, continued Febi, aims to introduce to the public that South Sumatra has potential that can be optimized for the advancement of woven fabrics and textiles based on natural fibers such as pineapple fiber, banana stalks and other superior products. According to him, this is also to raise economic growth, the industrial sector and the creative economy sector in South Sumatra.
Meanwhile, the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru appreciated the ideas carried out by the South Sumatra Province Deskranasda even though during the Covid-19 pandemic they still had extraordinary works.
Not only that, HD assesses that the existence of Sriwijaya Craft itself which has the building functioned will certainly be a place for marketing education for South Sumatra handicraft products plus every corner of South Sumatra has superior products.
“This is mandatory for the government to encourage, either directly or indirectly, which has an impact on the spirit of business actors in the field of weaving and other handicrafts,” he said.
