Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Mawardi Yahya responded positively to the activity of involving women as agents of peace in the prevention of radicalism and terrorism organized by the South Sumatra Province Terrorism Prevention Coordination Forum at the Beston Hotel Palembang Ballroom, Wednesday (12/8).
According to him, the role of women in this matter is very important. Especially in terms of providing good understanding to children of the younger generation so as not to be influenced by wrong understanding.
Not only that, the role of women who are members of this organization, according to him, can become agents / pioneers in creating and anticipating so that in the Province of South Sumatra, especially Indonesia, no one is involved in terrorism.
“These terrorists are often carried out by men, but nowadays men often take advantage of women. We know for ourselves the tricks of terrorism with promises or deceptions behind them to become or join the terrorist group,” he said.
Broadly speaking, he considered that terrorism was very dangerous and even had a profound impact on family relations, the state and even other sectors. Therefore, this is where the role of women is very important, especially in providing good insights to children so they don’t get involved. “I hope that this kind of event will reach the Regency / City level in South Sumatra,” he concluded.
The Director of Prevention of BNPT, represented by the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Information Technology, AKBP Astuti Idris, said that terrorism is an extraordinary crime, terrorism not only destroys the stability of the country but also the economic system and others.
According to him, terrorists not only kill innocent humans, but also present fear to all humans. “So let’s work together to prevent terrorism as well as radicalism,” he said.
He said that in warding off radicalism, it is certain local wisdom that can counteract it. That’s why local wisdom must be instilled and applied from an early age.
“In this case, it cannot be denied that the role of women is very vital, women have a strategic role in providing strength both in the family and society from all forms of spread of terrorism and radicalism groups,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Head of FKPT for South Sumatra Province, Periansya, said that currently terrorism is not only carried out by men but also by women. That’s why holding this activity aims to provide an overview of women to become agents of peace in the prevention of terrorism and radicalism in South Sumatra Province. “Today’s event there are as many as 100 participants consisting of academics, village heads and female figures,” he concluded.
