Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri said the heroes of the “now” era are those who dare to fight corruption.
“In the past, the heroes sacrificed their souls and bodies for the independence of the country, now we must continue their struggle, we start from being honest, brave and great and anti-corruption,” Firli said in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday commemorating Heroes’ Day.
Maintaining integrity, upholding religious values, culture, and honesty and not being silent about the injustice of corruption, said Firli, are ways to become a hero in fighting corruption.
“It takes many heroes to fight against corruption that has long colonized this country so that this chronic disease can be completely wiped out from the motherland so that the ideals of the ‘founding fathers’ can be realized where the state can protect, prosper and educate the lives of the entire nation and the whole spilled. Indonesian blood from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote Island,” he said.
At this time, he said, the meaning of hero can be understood and seen from various sides, for example someone who brings change or provides positive values towards the common good for his nation can be called a hero. Likewise, the athletes who have made the nation and country proud, are also worthy of being called heroes.
“Being a hero in this era, is no longer done as before by lifting sharp bamboo because the invaders of the “now” era are no longer colonialism but our current enemies, including poverty, ignorance, and corruption. This is the enemy of all of us that must be fought and eliminated from the earth of the archipelago and this country,” said Firli.
He said “My Heroes, My Inspirations”, the big theme of the Hero’s Day commemoration carried out by the government this year is very appropriate, considering the essence and values of heroes who always set an example for us throughout the ages.
“Such as integrity as children of the nation who hold fast to religion, culture and the values of honesty and extraordinary sincerity so that they (heroes) dare to bear all the consequences as a form of risk as the front guard for freedom fighters, even though armed only with sharp bamboo are noble values. that we can follow from our heroes,” said Firli.
Firli said that heroes as role models also inspire and are engraved in the hearts of KPK people.
“If all forms of risk ranging from intimidation to the safety of body and soul are consequences that we must accept as the spearhead of eradicating corruption in Indonesia, God willing, all of us at the KPK are sincere and ready to accept it,” he said.
“Happy Indonesian National Heroes Day, let’s commemorate it with the spirit of anti-corruption culture and take on the role of anti-corruption heroes,” said Firli. (rmt/bbs)
