Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra Province (Sumsel) H. Herman Deru gives a thumbs up for the initiation of the South Sumatra Province Literacy Ambassador Ratu Tenny Leriva S. Ked to create the first Sign Language Literacy movement in Indonesia.
According to him, literally sign language is not enough just to know the alphabet, because it is very important to know body gestures, because gestures give different meanings, according to each way.
“The literacy ambassador made one step a concern that really touched, all stakeholders, both local government and the private sector, were able to commit to providing equal rights and opportunities for people with disabilities,” he said when launching the Sign Language Literacy Movement, at Sriwijaya Cultural Park, Sunday (20/20/2020). 2 pm.
Governor Herman Deru invites literacy activists ranging from literacy mothers to expand sign language literacy, where this can explore knowledge that will help people with disabilities.
“This idea must be expanded by literacy activists, literacy mothers, then continued to state schools, so that we give equal rights to people with disabilities,” he said.
The number one person in South Sumatra Province also appealed to all relevant stakeholders to pay attention to the accessibility of persons with disabilities.
