Herman Deru Explains the Proposed Raperda for the Establishment of an Agribusiness BUMD to the South Sumatra DPRD

PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru directly explained the submission of three South Sumatra Provincial Regulation Drafts (Raperda) at the XV plenary meeting of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, Monday (31/8).

Where the three draft regional regulations submitted include the draft regional regulation on the establishment of BUMD Agri Bisnis, the draft regional regulation on changing the form of a prodexim regional company legal entity into a prodexim regional company (Perseroda) and a draft regional regulation on library administration and management.

“At this plenary meeting we submitted three draft regional regulations which were previously stipulated in the 2020 South Sumatra Provincial Regulation Formation Program (Propemperda). We have submitted and explained this,” HD said in the meeting.

He explained, the draft local regulation on the establishment of BUMD Agri Bisnis, among other things, aims to help move the domestic economy and contribute to PAD. Then it is expected to be a pioneer in private sector and cooperative sector activities through corporate mechanisms and to encourage economic growth in the community by creating new jobs.

This was also done considering that South Sumatra itself is one of the regions in Indonesia which has very large agricultural and plantation lands and its people have livelihoods as farmers.

“Moreover, South Sumatra is a food storage area. Therefore there needs to be an economic institution that can contribute directly to farmers both in the provision of seeds, production facilities and in the field of marketing,” he said.

Then, the draft local regulation on the change in the form of a regional prodexim company legal entity into a prodexim regional company (Perseroda) was proposed in order to provide opportunities for regional companies to improve the performance of economic activities so that they can stand on a par with BUMDs and private companies in South Sumatra.

Moreover, currently Prodexim Regional Companies have had to boost their activities so that they can contribute more to the economic sector.

“Meanwhile, the draft local regulation on library administration and management will increase services. So far, library management has been good enough, but as science and technology advances, improvements must be made,” he explained.

“We hope that this draft regional regulation can be discussed again in the South Sumatra DPRD plenary meeting and get a competition so that it is stipulated as a regional regulation and followed up in accordance with statutory regulations,” he added.

On the other hand, HD also attended a special paripuran meeting to replace members of the South Sumatra DPRD R Sentang to replace members of the Golkar party faction H Medi Basri who was dismissed because of his death.

“The person concerned has become part of the South Sumatra Provincial government. The main duties and functions are the same as the previous predecessors. I hope it can improve the DPRD’s already good performance,” he concluded. (ojn/rel)
