PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – As is the custom so far, despite the weekend the Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru (HD) continued to work, no exception, Saturday (5/9/20) morning. After attending Ki’s 20th haul invitation. H.A Malik Tadjuddin, HD also attended the 30th anniversary of AAI at the AAI Secretariat of South Sumatra, Jalan Gub HA Bastari Jakabaring, Palembang.
On that occasion, the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru reminded that the organizations that oversee South Sumatra advocates, including those who are members of the Indonesian Advocates Association (AAI), can contribute to promoting welfare, especially in terms of upholding justice in the community.
He also asked advocates to provide maximum service in law enforcement efforts in society.
According to HD, AAI and other advocate organizations in South Sumatra can not only be used as a place to strengthen friendship but can be used as a forum for upholding justice.
“Don’t make this organization known as a group of advocates with an expensive image, but make this organization a forum to serve the community,” said HD.
He said, services that lead to social action must be carried out without expecting anything in return. This is because advocates are not only needed by the middle and upper class society, but also the middle and lower class society.
“Currently there are still many people who do not understand the issue of law and here is the role of advocates. Maybe legal services that serve the underprivileged may also be held. These efforts can also be cooperated with local governments. There are times when we must provide unconditional services to the community,” he explained.
He explained, advocates themselves do have an important role in upholding legal justice. Therefore, advocates are required to defend what is right indiscriminately.
“If you have talked about this profession (advocate), then what is being discussed is not who is right or wrong, but who can uphold justice. Advocates are one of the professions that are quite important. Therefore, advocates must be really observant so that justice can be upheld. , “he explained.
In addition to attending the anniversary event, HD also had the opportunity to inaugurate the operation of the new DPD and DPC AAI offices. The inauguration began with cutting the tumpeng and cutting the ribbon at the entrance to the AAI office.
“This new office is expected to be an encouragement for advocates to continue to provide the best service for the community,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the DPD AAI Sumsel M Husni Chandea said that his party is also committed to encouraging local government programs, including in terms of law enforcement.
“The attention of the regional government under the leadership of Governor Herman Deru is extraordinary. Our efforts will certainly encourage the program so that South Sumatra will be better. We will definitely improve the service to the community,” he concluded. (ray/rel)
