Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas asked that the implementation of the 1444 Hijriah/2023 AD pilgrimage be prepared in detail and carefully, because it will be the key to the success of the pilgrimage.
“Implementation of the pilgrimage is one of the core services of the Ministry of Religion, although there are many other services such as education and other religions, it is often the pilgrimage that draws public attention. Because of that, the preparation is very important, I ask that it be carried out carefully and in detail,” said the Minister of Religion Yaqut in Jakarta, Thursday.
Several things that became the focus of the Minister of Religion were related to elderly services, especially wheelchairs. Yaqut asked that the procurement of wheelchairs be proportional to the number of elderly people, which this year reached 62 thousand people.
In addition to the availability of wheelchairs, the Minister of Religion also asked officers to be swift in serving the congregation, especially the elderly.
“If possible, don’t just wheelchairs, but also golf carts that need to be prepared, it will certainly be very helpful for the congregation,” he said.
Not only that, in order to make it easier for pilgrims, the Minister of Religion wants the identity of the haj officers to be more conspicuous and visible. This is so that the congregation, especially the elderly, can more easily recognize officers when they need help.
“Especially the elderly congregation whose eyesight is poor. In order to easily recognize officers, so they immediately know who to ask for help with this conspicuous identity,” said Minister of Religion Yaqut.
He revealed that there are still many things that need to be prepared in detail. Therefore, these details need to be discussed at the ongoing national working meeting of the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organizers (PHU) of the Ministry of Religion.
According to him, paying attention to the small things in preparing for the Hajj will give success in organizing the 2023 Hajj.
