“Assistance must be done quickly and on target. The social assistance is specifically for poor people affected by COVID-19, “said President Joko Widodo, as reported by the Presidential team.
For the initial stage, continued Jokowi, social assistance began to be distributed to 1.2 million Beneficiary Families (KPM) in DKI Jakarta, followed by other beneficiary families in the Bodetabek area (Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi). “I want supervision and field checks so that the goods can be received by the recipient well and once again can be right on target,” he said.
Social assistance in the form of food packages is symbolically distributed to the poor and affected by COVID-19 in the Greater Jakarta area. The distribution that began on Monday (4/20/2020) included PT Pos Indonesia, online motorcycle taxi operators, Youth Organization, Farmers Market, and base motorcycle taxi drivers.
A total of 130 two-wheeled drivers and 13 units of four-wheeled vehicles carrying the aid package were dispatched in front of the Merdeka Palace Gate witnessed by President Joko Widodo and Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.
The Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P Batubara, in his statement, said that the assistance would also be distributed to beneficiary families in the Bodetabek area.
“What we are doing this morning is to ensure the presence of the state in handling Covid-19, especially for residents who are affected by Covid-19 in the DKI Jakarta area and later in some parts of Bogor Regency, Depok City, Tangerang City, South Tangerang City and Kota Bekasi (Bodetabek), “he said at the departure location.
The assistance will cover 1.2 million families in DKI Jakarta and will follow 600,000 families spread across Bodetabek. Assistance in the form of basic food packages with an index of Rp. 600,000 per month will be rolled out over the next three months to help underprivileged residents affected by Covid-19.
Director General of Social Protection and Social Security at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Pepen Nazaruddin, who also explained that the distribution of aid with an index of the above size is divided into two channels each month.
