Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the construction work for the Jakarta-Bandung fast train had reached 73 percent and that the state-of-the-art transportation would undergo trials by the end of 2022.
“In the early next year, we will prepare for the operation. It is hoped that by the end of 2022 the Jakarta-Bandung fast train can be tested and of course after the trial, it will go into operation,” said President Jokowi while reviewing the construction of Tunnel # 1 Halim train. fast Jakarta-Bandung, in Bekasi, West Java, Tuesday.
President Jokowi hopes that this strategic project can be integrated with other modes of transportation such as light fast trains (Light Rapid Train / LRT) and Moda Raya Terpadu (MRT) in DKI Jakarta in order to create efficiency in time and distance to increase the competitiveness of economic activities.
“So that there is an efficiency of time, speed, and we hope this will be competitiveness, competitiveness, for our country to compete with other countries,” said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi also hopes that the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung fast train will include technology transfer to domestic workers.
“And we hope that if it is decided that it will be extended to Surabaya, the readiness of our human resources already has the Jakarta-Bandung experience,” said President Jokowi.
During his visit, President Jokowi was accompanied by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, the Chinese Ambassador to RI, and the leadership of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).
The President reviewed several locations, namely Casting Yard # 1 which is located in Wangunharja Village, Cikarang Utara District, Bekasi Regency. This location is one of the production and distribution support facilities for the box girder that is used as a compiler for the track structure for the Jakarta-Bandung fast train project.
Then, the President also reviewed Tunnel # 1 for the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train project, in Jaticempaka Village, Pondokgede, Bekasi City, which is a two-track tunnel with a length of 1.8 kilometers and passes under the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
The construction of the fast train is currently being worked on by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC). (rma/bbs)
