The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left four messages to the management of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk, including so that the Islamic banking giant is able to attract customers from the millennial generation, who number 25.78 percent of Indonesia’s 270 million population.
“The number of the millennial generation is 25.78 percent of the total 270 million Indonesian population. This is a very large number, ”said President Jokowi when inaugurating PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday.
President Jokowi also asked Bank Syariah Indonesia to design competitive financial products that meet consumer needs, both from corporate and retail circles. That way, the banking services of this sharia bank will be able to make customers “upgrade” in their financial management.
“Islamic financial service products from Bank Syariah Indonesia must be competitive and meet the consumer, corporate, and retail service segments,” said President Jokowi.
Then-President Jokowi reminded Indonesian Sharia Bank to also be open, universal, and inclusive. This means that the banking sector must welcome anyone who wants to become a customer, regardless of the origin of the customer.
“Don’t think that Islamic banks are only for Muslims, non-Muslims should also be welcomed. All those who wish to transact and invest in sharia must be welcomed as well as possible, “said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi also asked Indonesian Syariah Bank to optimize digital banking technology in each of its services and products. This is so that Bank Syariah Indonesia is able to reach all levels of society.
Also attending the inauguration of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia was Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, President Director of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk Herry Gunardi, and a number of other state officials. (icn/bbs)
