Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesians who have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have now reached 151,378,726 after an additional 604,945 people underwent a second vaccination today, according to data from the COVID-19 Task Force.
There was also an addition of 171,016 people receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. So that 193,400,494 people in the country have now received the first injection of the vaccine, based on data received in Jakarta, Sunday.
Meanwhile, 14,600,781 people have received the third dose as a booster or booster, an increase of 249,235 people compared to Saturday (12/3).
The government targets 208,265,720 people in Indonesia to undergo COVID-19 vaccination to gain communal immunity (herd immunity) against the disease.
In addition to the increase in the number of vaccine recipients, data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force also shows that today there were 11,585 new cases of COVID-19.
This increase was also accompanied by reports of 25,854 patients being declared recovered from COVID-19 and 215 people dying.
The Ministry of Health also continues to monitor developments regarding the combined Delta and Omicron or Deltacron COVID-19 variants that have been detected in several countries in Europe.
“This development is still being monitored. Because there is no evidence regarding an increase in transmission, severity and others,” said the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Vaccination Spokesperson, Siti Nadia Tarmizi when answering ANTARA’s questions via a message application in Jakarta, Sunday.
Previously, scientists had confirmed the existence of a new COVID-19 variant combining mutations from the Omicron and Delta variants with cases reported in several European countries.
The variant, dubbed “Deltacron,” was confirmed by genome sequencing performed by scientists at IHU Mediterranee Infection in Maseille, France. The variant has been detected in several areas of France. (mhn/bbs)
