PAGARALAM, The Indonesia Post – The fishery sector is a concern of the Governor of South Sumatra, H Herman Deru. Because the fisheries sector is also believed to be able to boost the community’s economy in addition to the agricultural sector.
As on Friday (9/10) morning, Herman Deru spread fish seeds in Tebat Gheban Village, Alun Dua Subdistrict, Pagaralam Utara District, Pagaralam City. About 300 thousand fish seeds are scattered in that location.
“We hope this can spark something big in the community. Because, from the little things done, it will be of great benefit to us. Starting from economic benefits to tourism,” said Herman Deru.
From an economic standpoint, the fisheries sector itself can indeed be an alternative for people to improve the economy through cultivation.
Not only can it improve the economy, fish farming can also encourage natural sustainability.
“These fish can become a laboratory for nature. So these fish can determine the properness of water or not. For that, protect nature. Nature will remain productive if we continue to protect it,” he said.
Moreover, Herman Deru continued, Pagaralam City has enormous tourism potential. The advancement of tourism in the City of Pagaralam must be encouraged by the preservation of its nature.
“Pagaralam has a very good tourist destination. In order to continue to grow, efforts to maintain security must also be made so that immigrants feel comfortable,” he explained.
In addition to sowing fish seeds, Herman Deru also met face to face with Pagaralam coffee activists. One by one, he tasted the original Pagaralam City coffee.
According to him, Pagaralam coffee must also be encouraged to develop in order to improve the welfare of the community.
“Pagaralam is also famous for its coffee. This must also be encouraged by its development. The South Sumatra Provincial Government is committed to supporting everything in Pagaralam as long as it brings benefits to the community,” he added.
As a form of support, HD also provided fish seeds, 200 robusta coffee seedlings, and 40 thousand kg of organic fertilizer.
The Mayor of Pagaralam, Alpian Maskoni, on this occasion said that the City Government of Pagar Alam is committed to continuing to promote Pagaralam tourism. He believes, Pagaralam tourism can make a major contribution to the progress of South Sumatra.
“Moreover, this is supported by the Governor. Of course our steps to develop Pagaralam City are getting faster,” he concluded. (imf/ril)
