On that occasion, Governor H. Herman Deru said he was proud of the issuance of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 08 of 2020 concerning support for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup and Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 19 of 2020 concerning the National Committee for the FIFA U-20 World. Cup 2021.
Governor Herman Deru said the South Sumatra Province continues to renovate the Jakabaring Gelora Sriwijaya (GSJ) Stadium starting from lighting, grass and other infrastructure facilities including the feasibility of the three fields that will be used as training locations such as the Athletic Stadium, Archery Field and Baseball Field.
“Especially for the three exercises including the installation of the fence will be done. Therefore, we really hope for the support of the central government, PSSI and other related parties,” hoped Herman Deru.
On this occasion Herman Deru thanked the Ministry of PUPR RI, Kemenpora RI and also PSSI especially to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo who has entrusted South Sumatra to become the U-20 World Cup Host City.
“We the South Sumatra Provincial Government will work hand in hand to complete all the requirements determined by FIFA. Apart from that, in external factors, we also prepare Hospitality, which we will prepare together with the Palembang City Government,” he said.
As the host of the U-20 World Cup, Herman Deru hopes that South Sumatra will not only be successful in its implementation but also succeed in restoring the national economy and succeed in the tourism sector.
“And no less important success in stimulating the youth of South Sumatra football.
“God willing, our local players will develop and be provoked by their interest to become professional soccer players,” he said.
Meanwhile, Director of Strategic Infrastructure, Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR RI, Iwan Supriyanto said that in accordance with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 08 of 2020 regarding support for organizing the 202 FIFA U-20 World Cup, his party got the task to renovate 3 training fields located in the JSC complex including Athletics, Archery and Baseball.
“The three fields will be made over to become companion fields for the Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium. The handling of these three fields according to the Minister’s direction will be integrated with the packages in West Java and East Java,” he explained.
As for the renovation work target, he said that the work will be carried out in October because the target is completed in May or the end of March 2021.
“For these three fields, it must comply with world cup standards, including installing lighting, namely lamps with a capacity of 800 lux to anticipate night training. The surrounding area must also be available to drop off the player’s bus and equip it with changing rooms including toilets,” he added. (imf/bbs)
