Badung, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that cultural aspects top the tourist attraction in Indonesia, both foreign and domestic tourists.
“From the data we obtained, it turns out that tourist attraction in 2023 is supported by three choices, the first is the excellence and attractiveness of local culture,” said Sandiaga when closing the Bali Poltekpar Job Fair, in Badung, Friday.
Sandiaga also added that, apart from that, the appeal of Indonesian culinary delights and green tourism are also important factors for domestic tourist attraction.
“The data shows that the attractiveness of culinary tourism reaches more than 40 percent. Tourists choose a destination because of its culinary tourism. The third is the sustainable aspect or green tourism,” he said again.
Therefore, on that occasion, Sandiaga instructed the Culinary Arts Study Program at Poltekpar in Indonesia to include the book Mustikarasa by Soekarno as an additional reference to enrich culinary delights in tourism businesses.
The book consists of 1,200 pages containing Indonesian food recipes that completely use domestically sourced plant and animal ingredients.
He believes that local food owned by Indonesian people has its own attraction for foreign tourists, especially in top destinations.
He stated that the government’s target for tourist visits in 2023 could be achieved and could even exceed the target.
“As of September 2023, the data we have is that this year’s target will exceed 15-20 percent of tourists,” he said.
Meanwhile, domestic tourists are still struggling to achieve their targets by holding various events in various regions.
“Therefore, we have to encourage many events to promote Indonesian tourism, and in terms of employment opportunities, God willing, the work target will be achieved, because it can already be seen that hotels have opened,” said Sandiaga Uno. (mhn/bbs)
