Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno asked local governments (pemda) to strengthen collaboration with related parties in developing tourism potential in their regions and promoting these destinations through holding events.
Sandiaga also said that regarding the development of basic infrastructure, local governments are expected to collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to build basic infrastructure in the regions, for which the Ministry of Finance has provided funding of IDR 32 trillion.
“There has been a Presidential instruction and funding from the Ministry of Finance in the amount of IDR 32 trillion to build basic infrastructure that has links with production centers, tourism, and also infrastructure related to transportation. So if you want access to tourist destinations in your area (the construction) can be prioritized, please write to me and to the PUPR Minister,” said Sandiaga in a written statement in Jakarta, Saturday.
Sandiaga also encouraged local governments to prepare ecotourism-based amenity facilities and prepare attractions in the area through holding events.
“I want to encourage local governments to present interesting and quality events. So this event will become a promotional medium for the tourism potential in their respective regions,” he said.
The government has prepared a total budget of IDR 32 trillion to improve regional roads in regencies, cities and provinces in order to improve connectivity.
Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa in the State Palace area, Jakarta, Wednesday (25/1) said that according to the target in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), the government wants to increase the percentage of regional roads throughout Indonesia with steady conditions to 65 percent. from currently only 42 percent.
President Jokowi has also ordered the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to become the leading agency (leading sector) in the construction and maintenance of roads in the regions. (mhn/bbs)
