Banyuasin, The Indonesia Post – Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin reminded that the family is a miniature or the smallest unit of society that determines the greatness of a nation.
“Internally, the family gives birth to a healthy generation. Externally the family makes up a great society and country. This community and nation depend on the family,” said the Vice President in his remarks at the 2023 30th National Family Day Commemoration Summit in Banyuasin, South Sumatra, Thursday.
The Vice President conveyed that the family is a miniature or an image of the smallest unit of society. Then a good and great family, he continued, would create a good and great society as well.
“Therefore we (the government) hope that the Indonesian family must become a great family, so that our nation becomes a great nation,” said Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
At the peak of the 30th Harganas commemoration the Vice President advised all Indonesian families to continue to strengthen the role of the family in creating the next generation of youth who are free from stunting (dwarfness) both physically, mentally and in life.
He said great youth grew from children raised and educated by strong families.
“We remember that President Soekarno once said ‘give me 10 youths, I will definitely rock the world’. I also believe that Indonesia’s young generation is capable of producing works and achievements that shake the world. One day they will become a generation capable of rocking the world, as the first President Soekarno said,” said the Vice President.
At the event the Vice President also handed over the Satyalencana Development Award to the Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) Herman Deru, as per Presidential Decree Number 43/TK/Year 2023, for his services to the state and society in the field of state development in general, or in the field development of a particular field in particular.
The Vice President also handed over the Satyalencana Wira Karya Medal of Honor, according to Presidential Decree No. 44/TK/Year 2023, to dozens of regional heads and recipient figures, including the Governor of Central Java (Central Java) Ganjar Pranowo and the Governor of South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Sahbirin Noor, as a tribute to services in providing great dharma devotion to the state and nation of Indonesia, so that it can be used as an example for others.
