HD-Hasto Talkshow “Towards Stunting-Free Families for Advanced Indonesia

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Still in the commemoration of the 30th National Family Day (HARGANAS) in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, the Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru conducted a talk show with the Head of the Indonesian BKKBN Dr. HC. dr. Hasto Wardoyo, Sp.OG with the theme “Discussion Towards Stunting-Free Families for Advanced Indonesia” organized by INews TV packaged in the iNews TV Speak After Lunch program guided by Presenter Anggi Pradita.

On that occasion, HD received direct praise from the Head of the Indonesian BKKBN. According to him, HD’s success in significantly reducing the stunting rate should be an example for other regions in Indonesia.

“We are grateful to Mr. Governor Herman Deru who is the host of PROMONAS. And Mr. Governor can be an example because of the decrease in stunting in national champions,” said Hasto.

Hasto said that family planning is also often misinterpreted as the use of family planning and others. Whereas the family needs to be planned such as when to have children and how to create a peaceful family.

Meanwhile, HD explained a lot about its strategy to accelerate the reduction in stunting rates in South Sumatra. In 2022, South Sumatra is recorded as the province with the highest reduction in stunting nationally from the previous 24.8% to 18.6% or a decrease of 6.2%.

“The way we activate the existing features is Posyandu. The community also needs adequate knowledge. So continuous and sustainable education and outreach are needed. Not only that, we also routinely provide blood booster for young women who are prone to anemia. Because when getting married later getting pregnant with low blood pressure is quite at risk of giving birth to a baby who fails to thrive.

Apart from that, reducing stunting in South Sumatra is carried out through the South Sumatra Independent Food Movement (GSMP), where people are invited to change their mindset from buyers to producers. Communities can fulfill their nutritional needs independently by cultivating crops and raising livestock from their yards. (mhn/ril)
