54.9 million Indonesians have received booster doses

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) reports that the number of Indonesians who have received booster doses has reached more than 54.9 million as of Tuesday, 12.00 WIB.

Data from the COVID-19 Task Force received in Jakarta informed that the number of people who had received booster injections for the COVID-19 vaccine increased by 265,095 people, bringing it to a total of 54,941,943 people.

Thus, it is recorded that the injection of a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been given to 26.38 percent of the total population targeted for COVID-19 vaccination, as many as 208,265,720 million people.

Meanwhile, the population who received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine increased by 43,577 people to 169,882,385 people, or equivalent to 81.57 percent of the total target.

While the recipients of the first dose increased by 47,980 people, bringing the total number to 202,268,728 people or equivalent to 97.12 percent of the total target.

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin after the launch of the SatuSehat Platform in Jakarta, Tuesday said that in the last 15 months as many as 205 million Indonesians have received the COVID-19 vaccine in the form of complete primary to booster doses. The total injections given reached 410 million doses.

“The most we have to improve is the booster, and that’s why we educate the public so they can (get better protection),” he said.

According to Budi, the booster vaccine protection can prevent the severity of illness when infected with SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19, so there is no need to undergo intensive care in the hospital.

Booster vaccines are important protection in addition to compliance with health protocols, following the discovery of new variants in the community such as the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants which now dominate in Indonesia. (ojn/bbs)
