Palembang, The Indonesia Post – A total of 645 elected council members in South Sumatra (Sumsel) participated in the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) for the Orientation of Regency/City DPRD Members. The Bimtek held at The Zuri Hotel Palembang was opened by the Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi and attended by the Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD RA Anita Noeringhati.
The Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD Anita Noeringhati congratulated the elected members of the Regency/City DPRD who would participate in the initial orientation in holding their new positions.
“I am proud that you were elected to represent your respective representative regions. Congratulations on the mandate and responsibility given and carried out. You have a strategic role in development,” said Anita, Tuesday (3/9/2024).
According to her, this orientation is very useful for the participants to increase their roles optimally in order to realize equitable development.
“It is very important to create harmonious and sustainable development. You must be able to synergize with your respective district/city governments. The legislature in the district/city must be able to synergize with the executive,” she explained.
In addition, Anita continued, the role and function of supervision as members of the DPRD must also be implemented. The supervisory function can be given to the South Sumatra DPRD or the South Sumatra Provincial Government.
Meanwhile, Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi expects the elected members of the district/city DPRD for the 2024-2029 period to collaborate with the executive for several programs. Among them are helping to stabilize the price of rice which is the cause of inflation in South Sumatra.
“I ask that the elected members of the district/city DPRD who today have the opportunity to participate in the orientation technical guidance, to be able to collaborate with the regional heads. One of them is stabilizing the price of rice, then related to reducing the poverty rate in South Sumatra,” he said.
Elen said that the goal of the elected members of the district/city DPRD is to develop their respective regions together with the regional head so that they can improve the welfare of the local community.
“If successful, then I am sure, God willing, you can be re-elected, or maybe you can take part in the Regional Head contest,” he said. (ojn/ril)
