Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The COVID-19 Task Force reported that the number of Indonesians who had received the third or booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination reached 55,275,438 (55.28 million) as of Wednesday.
Information from the COVID-19 Task Force received in Jakarta, Wednesday, showed that the number of people who had received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine increased by 333,495.
Thus, the rate of injection of a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been given to 26.54 percent of the total population targeted for COVID-19 vaccination, which is as many as 208,265,720 people.
Meanwhile, the population who received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine increased by 54,087 people to 169,936,472 people or 81.6 percent of the total target.
While the recipients of the first dose increased by 65,063 people to reach 202,333,791 people or equivalent to 97.15 percent of the total target.
On Wednesday, the Task Force noted that there were an addition of 6,438 COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, 3,825 patients recovered and 11 patients died from COVID-19.
Nationally, the number of active cases rose by 2,602 cases to 46,024 active cases.
The Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the policy of accelerating booster dose vaccination in Indonesia is expected to penetrate 70 percent of the target population.
“I see all over the world, there is no country that can achieve (the vaccination target) 100 percent. So I’m honest, it’s impossible to achieve, the important thing is that above 70 percent is good,” said Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
Budi said that in the last 15 months as many as 205 million Indonesians have received the COVID-19 vaccine in the form of complete primary to booster doses. The total injections given reached 410 million doses.
“The most we have to improve is the booster, and that’s why we educate the public so they can (get better protection),” he said. (ojn/bbs)
