Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of the ASEAN-Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Arsjad Rasjid emphasized that women’s leadership is an inseparable part in supporting ASEAN’s vision as the center of world growth.
According to Arsjad, this is in line with the theme of ASEAN Centrality: Innovating towards Greater Inclusivity where inclusivity is the main key.
“When it comes to inclusivity, we must ensure that women’s leadership is part of this. We want the young generation to be part of this. We want disability to be part of this too. “Because we come back, we can’t leave anyone behind,” he said after being a speaker at the ASEAN Women CEO Forum 2023 in Jakarta, Saturday.
According to Arsjad, inclusivity is also ASEAN’s motto in Indonesia’s leadership this year. In fact, the theme of inclusivity was also voiced by stakeholders whom ASEAN-BAC met during roadshow activities since the beginning of this year.
“This is not just my language, but from all the stakeholders I spoke with, in all ASEAN countries, including Timor Leste,” he said.
Therefore, ASEAN-BAC continues to encourage women’s empowerment, especially in the business sector in the region. One of them is by encouraging companies in the region to create more female leaders.
“For example, how do we encourage more empowerment of women, so how can companies in ASEAN countries create more female leaders, that is the key,” said the General Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The ASEAN Women CEO Forum or the ASEAN Women CEO Forum is one of the side events in the series of the 43rd ASEAN Summit. The forum aims to provide a space for women to share stories and inspire one another.
The ASEAN Women CEO Forum is also a side event during the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit week at the 43rd ASEAN Summit which was held in Jakarta. (mhn/bbs)
