Chairperson of the South Sumatra Legislative Council responds to the Central Jakarta District Court’s decision to postpone the general election

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Chairperson of the South Sumatra (Sumsel) Legislative Council (DPRD) Hj RA Anita Noeringhati who is also the Daily Chairperson of the DPD I Golkar Party for the Province of South Sumatra is not panicking over the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus).

Especially point number 5 which states “Punish the defendant not to carry out the remaining stages of the 2024 General Election since this decision was pronounced and carry out the General Election stages from the beginning for approximately 2 years 4 months 7 days”.

Where the panel of judges granted the Adil Makmur (Prima) People’s Party’s lawsuit against the General Elections Commission (KPU) and ordered the KPU to postpone the election stages.

“In response to this, I think that the decision is still a long way off, so that it can be said that the election will be postponed,” said Sums DPRD chairperson Hj RA. Anita Noeringhati SH.MH after the Inauguration of the Parliamentary Journalists Forum and Public Discussion with the theme “Women and Politics in 2024” was held on the 3rd Floor of the South Sumatra DPRD Building, Saturday (4/3).

According to the Golkar Party politician, there are still stages in a higher court.

“That’s a district court, there is still a High Court, there is still a Supreme Court, with Cassation, and PK (Reconsideration),” she said.

And one more thing, said Anita, is the law that must be changed if there is an election decision.
Because both the Constitution and the Election Law state that our term of office is five years.

“If it is postponed later, it will automatically have to regulate laws or Perpu dong. Can’t automatically it be basic. So I react to this, this is the dynamics inside,” she said. (ojn/bbs)
