Erick Thohir supports the increase of BRILink agents

Surabaya, The Indonesia Post – Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir supports the efforts of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) to achieve financial inclusion by increasing the smart selling agent “BRILink” from 500 thousand agents to 600 thousand agents by the end of 2022.

Erick, who was present at the “Halal Bi Halal BRILinkers House of Brilink Agent Association” event at Balai Pemuda, Surabaya, Saturday said this effort was in line with BRI’s efforts to support the achievement of the 90 percent financial inclusion target promoted by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

“Today, BRI targets an increase in BriLinkers from 500 thousand agents to 600 thousand agents, and targets an increase of IDR 70 trillion in KUR, which was originally IDR 190 trillion to IDR 260 trillion,” he said.

This effort is in line with the government’s continued push for funding to banks from the initial 20 percent to 30 percent.

“With this encouragement, it proves that BUMN is not a conglomerate, which stands like the Ivory Tower, but we are encouraging the people’s economy,” he said.

Erick said that the BRILink agent must be one of the spearheads of Indonesia’s economic strength.

“My message is that you must continue to learn to be digitally literate, technology literate. BRILink agents should not be complacent, must be open to change. Hopefully BRILinkers can be the spearhead of development and Indonesian MSMEs,” said Erick.

Meanwhile, BRILink agents recorded a positive performance from the achievement of sales volume reaching Rp433.75 trillion. The sales volume of the BRILink Agent for the April 2022 period increased by about 40.04 percent from March 2022 which was valued at IDR 309.73 trillion.

As of April 2022, the number of BRILink agents throughout Indonesia reached 552,709 agents.

Director of BRI Small and Medium Business, Amam Sukriyanto said, BRILink agents answer the needs of public banking services, especially in remote areas.

BRILink agents play a role in providing a sharing economy for the community, in line with BRI’s vision to become a Champion of Financial Inclusion and BRI’s focus on developing an ultra-micro ecosystem.

“BRILink agents are an integral part of realizing the BRIvolution 2.0 strategy. “Improving the role and governance of BRILink agents is our focus to improve quality in serving the community, which provides real benefits with the comfort of being close to relatives,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
