Regarding Company Supervision, South Sumatra DPRD Questions the Performance of the South Sumatra Manpower Office

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The PKS faction of the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council  (DPRD) (South Sumatra) held a discussion about the conditions of workers after the Covid-19 pandemic in South Sumatra in the meeting room of the PKS Faction of the South Sumatra DPRD, Monday (16/5).

With the resource persons Deputy Chairman of Commission V DPRD of South Sumatra Mgs Syaiful Padli, Head of Department, PKS DPP Bidnaker Worker Network Muhammad Rusdi, Head of Manpower Division of PKS DPP HM Martri Agoeng SH.

Attended by a number of trade unions in South Sumatra, DPRD members from the city of Palembang, OKI, Muba, Banyuasin.

“We invite fellow labor unions in South Sumatra from several trade union communities to share about labor issues after the pandemic,” said Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the South Sumatra DPRD, Mgs Syaiful Padli.

According to him, there are several problems related to the development of workers in South Sumatra, one of which is related to the wages of workers in South Sumatra, which this year did not increase.

“We ask that in the future the Provincial Government will pay more attention to the real conditions in the field, when a pandemic occurs, wages should be increased, not even not increased, even in some places it has decreased,” he said.

In addition, after this pandemic there has been an extraordinary wave of layoffs and there is no accountability from the company.

“That’s why we at Commission V will pay special attention, we ask for data from the union, we will summon companies that unilaterally lay off their employees and are not given severance pay,” he said.

And from the results of this discussion, according to him, there are several notes related to the performance of the South Sumatra Province Manpower Office (Disnaker), which essentially supervisors from the South Sumatra Provincial Manpower Service do not function properly in carrying out supervision.

“This is proven by many companies when they have problems with their employees, they don’t get serious attention from the company supervisors, even though they have been given SP I and SP II letters then there is no attitude from the company, it seems that they ignore the warning from the Manpower Office, this will be a problem. We pay attention and will ask for an explanation from the Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Manpower Office regarding this matter,” he said.

PKS DPP Muhammad Rusdi hopes that the government will be more concerned when it turns out that omnibus law, which is expected to create jobs, has not had any impact until two years later.

“The fact is that workers are getting more and more, layoffs are everywhere, now in accordance with the mandate of the constitution article 27 paragraph 2 that every citizen has the right to get a job so that he is not poor, then the government should allocate social funds such as BLT as in the previous era it must be disbursed to workers who have been laid off and do not receive severance pay,” he said.

He said he was grateful that the government canceled Permenaker No. 2 of 2022 regarding restrictions on JHT with the issuance of Permenaker No. 4 of 2022 that JHT can be taken without having to wait for 56 years of age.

“But that’s not enough, when there are workers who are laid off or sent home, the government has to help, I doubt the government can help, because the government doesn’t have data and companies don’t report every worker being dismissed by the company arbitrarily, we ask The local government, including in South Sumatra, is proactively looking for data on where the companies that laid off these workers and those who were laid off did not get anything, so it is the government’s responsibility to be able to provide social assistance or access to job opportunities or entrepreneurship assistance so that these workers and his family can live in prosperity and worth,” he said.

According to him, the results of this discussion will be a homework for his party where PKS together with workers will fight for justice and welfare and when there is a problem, they will discuss which one will be done today and which one will be done tomorrow.

“At least today’s picture is the dilapidated performance of the central government and local governments not paying maximum attention to labor issues,” he said. (ojn/bbs/ril)
