Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (PDTT) Ministry has been selected to showcase its programs in realizing Village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, the United States.
“Only 11 countries are chosen to present their works in implementing the SDGs,” Village PDTT Minister Abdul Halim Iskandar noted here on Wednesday.
Iskandar said his side will showcase its works at an exhibition held during the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development under the auspices of the UN’s Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on July 10-19.
The minister stated that his side will present ideas, concepts, as well as good practices initiated by the Indonesian government in localizing the global goals to be implemented in cities and villages.
In addition, the ministry will promote various potentials of villages and cities throughout Indonesia, including the country’s future capital city, Nusantara, he remarked.
“Indonesia will also exhibit the concept and progress of the development of its new capital city, Nusantara, which will be built as an inclusive, smart, and sustainable city,” he remarked.
Iskandar noted that his side will also disseminate information on the implementation of rural and urban development, community empowerment, as well as smart village programs in Indonesia.
He stated that at the exhibition, his side would seek cooperation with potential international partners to support sustainable village and urban development as well as expedite the realization of SDGs at the local level in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Head of the Center for Data and Information of the Village PDTT Ministry Theresia Junidar noted that the ministry will also showcase its programs to realize goal numbers 6, 7, 9, 11, and 17 of the Village SDGs.
The goals included Decent Villages with Clean Water and Sanitation; Villages with Clean and Renewable Energy; Developing of Rural Infrastructure and Innovation as Needed; Safe and Comfortable Rural Residential Areas; as well as Partnership for Village Development. (mhn/bbs)
