Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Heavy rain that poured down on Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Regency on Tuesday (8/4) early morning caused flooding in several areas, including residential areas in Peninggalan Village, Tungkal Jaya District, and the East Cross Road (Jalintim) at Kilometer 148.
Overflowing water from the Tungkal River which was unable to accommodate the high rainfall volume, resulted in 35 families (KK) being forced to evacuate to a safer location.
In addition, the water that submerged Jalintim caused severe congestion and temporarily paralyzed access to the national road.
Deputy Chairman of the South Sumatra DPRD, Nopianto, urged the regional government and related parties to immediately intervene to find alternative solutions so that traffic flow can return to normal.
“The road is completely paralyzed. Because this is a state road, the Main Road Office must quickly go to the field to directly review the current conditions and immediately coordinate to find a solution,” said Nopianto, Wednesday (9/4/2025).
The NasDem Party politician also emphasized the importance of the role of the South Sumatra Provincial Government in handling the problem. He considered that collaboration between the Road Center, the Provincial PU Bina Marga Service, and the Muba Regency Government was very much needed.
“Although the authority is in the center, because this is in the South Sumatra region, all parties must intervene. Find a solution, even if it is temporary, so that Jalintim can still be passed and does not cause long traffic jams,” he added.
He reminded that Jalintim is a vital route connecting Palembang with Jambi Province, so its function cannot be disrupted for too long.
“This is the only access to Jambi. Don’t let people passing by be disturbed for too long. The government must immediately follow up,” he concluded. (ojn/ril)
